04/20/2006: Hewlett-Packard is apparently using Nagios as the basis of its Platform Control Center (PCC), which is used to manage its StorageWorks RISS (Reference Information Storage System) 1.1. The RISS system is apparently used to archive company email messages for long-term storage in the event they are needed for litigation purposes, etc. This information appeared in an April 20th, 2006 Storage Advisor Middle East artitle titled "HP plots an effective e-mail archiving grid".

Sarah Lacy wrote an article for the March 13th, 2006 issue of BusinessWeek titled "Open Season On Open Source?" that talks about commercial investment in and buyouts of OSS projects. Sarah intereviewed for me the article and I provided some information as to where I see Nagios going in regards to commercialization.

Dave Rosenberg posted an InfoWorld blog entry (found here) titled "Is selling your open source project the ticket to freedom?" shortly after the BW article was released. He brought up some good points regarding commercial investment being good for OSS projects. I responded with some comments, which he was nice enough to post in a seperate blog entry titled "Nagios founder Ethan Galstad on staying independent", which can be found here.
